Description
AXARQUIA (MALAGA): In Salares you will find "Casa Angeles", a typical Andalucian style house. It is more than 200 years old, and has recently been renovated. In restoring the building we attempted to preserve as much of the original structure as possible.
The only modifications made were those strictly necessary for adapting the house to modern facilities. Most of the furnitures have been refurnished and placed in their original locations. This permits the visitor to enjoy the house as it was in the olden days.
Casa Angeles has been created for the enjoyment of country life and reproduces it with the greatest possible fidelity. This is not a hotel, nor does it pretend to be. However, a flare of luxury does exist here, with complementary touches that we are sure you will appreciate. The copper pans which were used for cooking have been returned to their place above the dining room fire place. The pitchers seem ready to be taken down to the river for water. With its wooden beams and reeds in the ceiling, its thick walls and its earth floor, the house gives you a feeling of having stepped back in time. However it is fully equipped for modern use.
The majority of the population earn a living from traditional agriculture. Both the harvesting of olives and almonds and the wine treading, are still carried out in the old way. Mules are still used for transporting fruit and for pulling the ploughs.
The most characteristic indigenous animals are the hare, the fox and the boar. You may come across these at any time on the road. Because of the proximity to the coast, you can go on day-trips to the beach (30 minutes away), and also visit busier places like Nerja (with its famous caves), Torre del Mar (where you can sample the famous fried fish), Marbella, Torremolinos, Ronda, Antequera...
You can also make one day-trips to places like Granada , where of course you can't miss the world-known Alhambra-palace.
